I'll be damned, this one was actually pretty good. The artstyle was unique, it tried new things, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't entertained: that's rare for these sorts of Pico fan cartoons! It's not quite up there with 'Run, Darnell, Run!' or 'Da Adventures of Pico 3', but it comes damn close. Excellent work.

People clearly had fun with this, and I don't want to detract from that.
But I'll be honest: big animation collabs like this are becoming super oversaturated and just no longer carry any spectacle. Some of these weren't bad, a few were good, but I question if there's really all too much people will remember from it.
I would have frontloaded a lot more of the better animations instead of sticking them closer to the end: first impressions are everything, and the impression I had while watching the first few minutes was that this was just going to be extremely low-effort. Obviously that wasn't true, and there's a lot to enjoy if you stick around, but when people have increasingly low attention spans, you need to grab people's attention immediately and keep it (which is especially true for a 30 minute cartoon).

objectively well stated

Worainu responds:

Not many big animators joined I guess, that's really their fault not those who joined and finished the work. If you wanna see better stuff in these collabs get the big boys to actually come out to play. I'm sure us lil tykes would have loved to be included amongst some heavy hitters. Join the collabs they are fun and you get to learn and grow with others <3.

I'll be honest, I went in wanting to hate it...
But it has so much of that old school flash charm, I couldn't help but love it! Cool as fuck.

thanks a lot, im glad u at least checked it out before hatin

One single joke, and it wasn't even all that funny. I get shorter animations are what gets traction these days, but at least make it denser with comedy.

what neat humor.

This is the perfect embodiment of the biggest problems with web cartoons. Lazy comedy, an over-reliance on guest VAs to boost ratings, and just a complete lack of its own identity.

As has been pointed out before, this one really drags. I know it's 19 minutes, but it feels like hours, just because everything is given way too much breathing room.

People are ragging on the comedy, but I honestly didn't find it as atrocious as its being made out to be. Most of the jokes just boil down to either using unconventional sound effects or slapping some web personality in there to do a voice, which is boring and cliché as fuck now: SrPelo and PsychicPebbles sitting around telling unfunny jokes is, shockingly, unfunny. That said, a few of the visual gags got a decent little chuckle out of me: so while there is a lot of kinda lazy comedy, the seeds of something more interesting are present and should be built upon.

I don't think this would have done even a fraction of the numbers its doing here (which admittedly is very little) if you weren't an established name because this is so heavily lacking when it comes to having its own voice or identity.
If you're doing more with this, I would really push you to try to carve out a stronger sense of individuality into your work. I see a lot of reviews complaining about the character designs and the art style, but honestly I think that's fine. The main problem here is that its too afraid to really do anything to set itself apart.

I mean, it's good I guess, but why would a man literally ask people to call him "Tyro1301". Are you some kinda maniac, is that it? I just have no idea why you'd choose such a perplexing name for yourself, man.

Tyro1301 responds:

its just my username bra

MrPakoMan literally predicted the future, omg... Little Paki we call him.

The whole reason the original works well is because it's extremely visual: it cuts to different angles, and the facial expressions and movements reflect the awkwardness the audience is intended to feel.
Here, you have quite literally removed everything that makes the original scene interesting and substituted it with simplistic lip sync. I guess the pupils turn white once and the arms move, but that's barely anything.

This is, without exaggeration, the most joy I've gotten out of a Newgrounds cartoon in years.

Dry responds:

this one did go out to a specific group of people after all....

I <3 marmalade.
